Many of our beautiful wild birds freeze to death in harsh winter weather. So it’s important to provide them shelter and let them get out of the cold. That’s the purpose of a winter roost box. Different birds will “hunker up” in roosts and screen inside to share body warmth. That way they have a better chance of surviving the freezing weather.
This economical winter roost gives that needed protection. A slate guard protects the entrance hole at the bottom which helps hold the heat in. Three internal perches can hold up to 6 birds. It is easy to hang a few feet above ground on a tree trunk of fence.
